Jill and Dustin Visit Lincoln

Well, 2 days after Jill graduated, she and Dustin hit the road for Los Angeles. She got a job with UCLA and out they went. On their way they detoured through Lincoln to see the middle of nowhere....I mean Middle America.
The first day they were here they went to the zoo in Omaha. Then the next day after work we all went down to the historic Haymarket Area and had some dinner and drinks at Lazlo's.

Jill and Dustin hanging out with the man on the bench.

Their stop in town was quick, but they were off to Denver then Las Vegas, then Los Angeles. All their things were being shipped by train and they had places to go and people to see!

Henry Doorly Zoo, Omaha - Memorial Day weekend 2009

For Memorial Day weekend Jeff's brother Michael and his wife Tanja came to visit. Jeff's dad and Kris came in the day after to spend the weekend in Lincoln and Omaha. We decided to go to the zoo in Omaha since the last time Jeff and I went was in 1999!

Here's a picture which is VERY similar to one we took there 10 years ago!

It was neat to go back to the zoo 10 years later. They have some new exhibits, one with butterflies and a desert dome. We reminisced in the Jungle/Rainforest exhibit. We really liked that one. It was a hot day and there were alot of people! I guess that's to be expected on Memorial Day weekend.

After the zoo we met up with Jeff's Dad and Kris at Offut Air Force Base and we went on over to Godfathers Pizza for some dinner and then onto Dave and Busters for some adult arcade play time. Then we headed back to Lincoln for some relaxation and showers! We played some cards and then went to bed.

The next day we went out for a little driving range action. The weather was perfect...there were a few sprinkles here and there, but overall very nice!

It was a very enjoyable weekend, but busy! We always enjoy having company and getting out of our aprtment!!

My Baby Shower and Trip to Virginia

The day after my birthday we headed for Virginia for the busiest week ever! We flew in on Friday May 8th and got in a little after midnight into Norfolk. Mom and Dad picked us up and we drove to Grafton and went to bed. The next day we got up a tad earlier than I would have liked given the time we got in. We headed to Richmond for my baby shower which was at 11am. It was a brunch theme and was done very nicely. It was great to see a bunch of family and friends gathered to celebrate with me. It was also nice to have everyone gathered in one spot so I could visit with everyone, even though briefly, or else I would have spent all week driving all over creation!

The cute diaper cake Jessica made for my shower!

The rest of the week was just as busy. We stayed the night with Ben and Jessica who opened up Chateau de' Coaker for us for 2 nights. The next day was Jill's boyfriend, Dustin's, graduation at the University of Richmond. It fell on mothers day, like it does every year.

The next day we met with a realtor to look at some homes we are considering buying....more like to pick A house to buy. We spent the entire day driving around and looking at homes. It was actually kind of tiring. Our real estate agent John is very helpful and appears to be always available for questions.

The next day, tuesday, Jeff had to get to work. This was the main reason for this trip. Tuesday through Friday Jeff was in Richmond for court week. So I headed out of the Omni in the morning headed to AOC to meet up with some old co-workers. Mikal and I met for lunch to share war stories about our pregnancies. She's 5 weeks further along than I am, so I got to see a little of what I'm in store for. She doesn't have the spider veins though. Unfair! That night I went home to my parents house. Since I hadn't been there since friday night, I figured tuesday night was time for a return. Plus I needed to visit. I stayed tuesday and wednesday nights and then on thursday we headed to Blacksburg for Jill's Graduation From Virginia Tech. Mom and Dad and I stayed in a hotel thursday night and headed out to graduation which was friday afternoon. Jeff raced from the courthouse in Richmond to Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg with about 15 minutes to spare before Graduation started. It was SO HOT that day! We were all sweating in that arena!

After graduation we went to eat and then headed to Jills place to pack up all her stuff which was a fiasco involving a U-Haul trailer and Jeff and Dad having to miss Jill walking across the stage and getting her diploma. It kinda was a stinky situation. We stayed one more night in Blacksburg (actually Salem and Troutville) and then headed back to Blacksburg to pick up the trailer and drive to Richmond. We detoured to Richmond so Mom and Dad could see the house we were considering making an offer on. Later that night we finally made it to my parents house to unload the trailer. And POOF like that the week was over and Jeff and I were flying out the next morning already!
I can't believe how fast that week went by. It was such a whirlwind and I feel like I didn't have nearly enough time to visit with everyone. We are looking forward to going back to Virginia in June!

Our Birthdays - Berkshire Hathaway Meeting

This year Jeff got a super gift for his birthday....but it was more courtesy of Union Bank than something I would have been able to attain myself, but I scored some good wifey points with this one. We went to the Berkshire Hathaway Annual Shareholders Meeting in Omaha on May 2nd. I was able to get tickets through work, so out we went. Leaving our house at 5:30 am we got in line outside the Qwest Center by 6:30 am. The line was ALREADY wrapped around the building to get in. It basically was like American Idol!!
Once we were inside we got some coffee and donuts and claimed some seats. We wandered down to the exhibit hall where there were some vendors set up and moseyed around their booths and checked out some super tricked out campers. We happened to be at the right place at the right time....we see a few people gathering about 15 feet from where we were standing and low and behold, who appears?? Mr Buffett and Bill Gates Senior. They were sitting down for a book signing and we were basically in the front row! We got a few pictures and stared for a few minutes and then got out of the mob of photographers and crazy fans that was forming! The meeting was lengthy in question and discussion, all of which Jeff understood and went right over my head...thankfully I had my trusty People Magazine and nail file to pass the time. It was a long day...we had been up since 4 something in the morning. We crashed early that night.

For my birthday we got a couples massage and pedicures. It was the first pedicure for BOTH of us. It was very nice. Our massages were relaxing too. It was weird to have a massage while laying on my side.... I spent most of the time trying not to tip over while being pushed on.
I made Jeff a marble bundt cake overloaded with too much chocolate frosting, and Jeff got a super dooper chocolate ice cream cake from Cold Stone. We binged and then felt sick, but it was totally worth it. Oh and I got new tires for my car!

Singing out loud with fists pumping.....or biting lower lip??
