1st Snow of the Season

Well, it wasn't alot, but it sure made for messy driving! The Crossfire isn't really a fan of the snow. We ended up filling the trunk with 250 pounds of sand. It seems to help somewhat.

There's been alot more since then!

Kansas City at Christmas

As a family we decided a big group of us would meet in Kansas City, Missouri for some pre-Christmas shopping, or at least a get together. It's about a 3 hour drive from Lincoln, so not so bad. We got a good deal on hotel rooms and off we went.

Jeff and I got there a few hours before everyone else, so we went out for a nice dinner at the Oak Room atop the Intercontinental Hotel which had a fantastic view overlooking the Country Club Plaza at night all light up in it's Christmas splendor. Yummy and a nice view.

Once everyone arrived there were 14 of us total. Jeff's mom, Mike, David, Mary, Jeff and I, Brandy, Donnie, Trent, Grandma, Pa, Heather, Nichole and Dennis, and a partridge in a pear tree. There was some playing of "quarters" that night. Interesting game! Interesting Dennis!

Breakfast was served in the hotel lobby and we stocked up and decided to go out to the Hallmark Tour. Yes, the card people. We wandered around a mall for a while and then decided that since we were in Kansas City, we needed Barbecue! So we found Arthur Bryant's. We ended up at one in a casino...not exactly WHERE (casino) we planned on eating, but was GOOD and enough food for an army! We ended up in the kids casino on the way out (arcade). Ski-ball is my FAVORITE!! And I did pretty well at the Deal or No Deal Game!

There's a neat little area called the Country Club Plaza. They call it there premier entertainment district. Well, NOT when it's cold! It's basically shopping, restaurants and hotels all bunched together in this neat looking little "plaza". They dress all the buildings up in lights for the holidays and it looks so fun! They even have carriage rides and "Cinderella" carriage rides for a pretty penny.

We wandered around the shopping area for a few hours, and as it started to get cold we decided it was time to eat and we wandered into the Panera for some soup and sandwiches. Then we went back for 14 hot chocolates and the woman at the counter was none too happy.

The next day we ended up at the outlets in Kansas City, Kansas. Lots of goods were found there! A little lunch at 54th Street and then we had to part ways and head back to Lincoln. It was a fun weekend!

Union Bank Christmas Party

Well, my Christmas party wasn't much of a Christmas party. More of a SHORT get-together with some co-workers for a re-make of "Twas the Night Before Christmas" done with bank humor and pictures of people I didn't know that were taken 2 days prior. Jeesh. It was supposed to be a "Tacky Sweater" party, but some people felt others would be offended if they wore what they considered "tacky" and others would HAVE worn it regularly. So that was the end of that. No Christmas booze either...Jeesh again.

It was held at a very pretty place called Wilderness Ridge. It's a golf community with a Lodge looking clubhouse/restaurant/banquet hall. When you turn down the winding street making your way up to the lodge, the street is lined with Christmas trees draped in all different colored lights, it was quite a sight, I wish I had a picture!

Thanksgiving 2008

Thanksgiving was quiet this year. Jeff's dad and step-mom were here to join us. I was feeling rather lazy and not up to cooking, so we ordered Thanksgiving dinner through the local grocery store, Hy-Vee. It was actually very good and we had A LOT of leftovers. Plenty of good eating for the next week! Jeff's dad brought pumpkin pie, Michigan wine and their shitzu, Mattie. Soco brought nothing but his begging self to the table....typical. It was a good meal followed by a good nap.

A few weeks prior Jeff decided that we needed a Nintendo Wii. So there we were on the couch playing Wii Sports and throwing out our shoulders and backs trying REALLY hard in bowling, tennis and golf. That made a few good hours of entertainment.

Oh! We went to see Four Christmases over Thanksgiving. It was HILARIOUS!! I recommend it.
